The purpose of this application is to provide any Venturer interested in volunteering beyond their crew a simplified way to make his/her availability known to the appropriate persons. Specifically, VOAs must fill at least three Vice-President positions, as well as any other VOA officer positions necessary for the successful and timely completion of goals; this application provides a way to declare ones willingness to volunteer at the District, Council, Area, and Region tiers. This application will also identify Venturers who may be assets in creating a VOA in their Council, or Area, as well as potential chairpersons for Venturing events. If you apply to volunteer with your Council or District we will make our best effort to put you in contact with the appropriate people but be aware that Councils are separate from the standard organization structure existent with the Areas and Regions. We are happy to assist Councils in filling their VOAs but are not responsible for the Council and District VOA decisions.
There is no deadline to submit the application so fill it out anytime. While most VOAs will try to have all positions filled for a term (June 1 to May 31) that doesn't always happen. Submit the application and we'll contact you to talk about how you can best serve the Venturing program.
The applicant must be a registered Venturer or Sea Scout and have not yet passed their 21st birthday. Once selected, the applicant must be approved by their Crew Advisor or Ship Skipper and Council Scout Executive before appointment. Approvals are acquired after the application submission by the appropriate VOA President.
Positions on the Regional and Area tiers are usually from June 1st to May 31st. Councils set their own terms of office and vary from council to council.
