Southern Region Area 9

Welcome to Area 9!!

Hello, Southern Region!

My name is Maddie Culwell. I am a member of Crew 1 out of Oneonta, Alabama and have been for a little over two and a half years. Through this time, I have worked my way up the ladder serving in various positions. I have served as Program Vice-President for my Crew, my Council, and my Area, as well as President for my Crew. I am currently serving as President for my Council and Area.

I have worked at summer camp for two years. I have been through and staffed an NYLT course. I have staffed a Wood Badge course as a Venturer and served as Crew President for S9-1-11-1. I have an award plan to earn my Bronze, Gold, and Silver before the end of April. I am VLSC trained. I have volunteered at  Winter Blast three times. I have been through Trainer’s EDGE. I have been a part of a Council planned high adventure event and am in charge of it this year. I have staffed two Council Cub Scout events as well as served as a Den Chief for three years, which has allowed me to earn the Den Chief Service Award. As you can tell, I enjoy being involved in a variety of different Scouting activities.

I am currently attending Oneonta High School and am a member of my school’s National Honor Society, Newspaper Staff, choir group (OHS Singers), Music and Drama Club, and Mu Alpha Theta. I love all things high adventure, especially if it involves ropes and harnesses or things that go bang.

I look forward to finishing out a strong year as President of Area 9!
