Welcome to Area 1!!



Hello,

My name is John Long.  I am from Baton Rouge, LA.  I am currently attending college at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, in Monroe, LA.  I am a Pre-pharmacy major in my sophomore year of college.  I am heavily involved with the Catholic Campus Ministry on my college campus and am the sound technician for the 1:00 mass Praise and Worship band at the CCM.  When I am not studying, I love sailing, fishing, playing the tenor saxophone, and woodworking.

I have been in scouting for 14 years. I am currently a member of Ship 7 in the Istrouma Area Council located in Baton Rouge, LA.  I became an Eagle Scout in 2006 and earned the rank of Quartermaster in 2010.  I also earned the Venturing Gold Award in 2011.  I am a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, Quinipissa Lodge 479.  I received the Ray Finley Community Service Award by the United States Power Squadron in 2011.  I have also attended two National Jamborees as well as two World Scout Jamborees, the most recent being on staff in Sweden.
